Whitney Houston and Dana Bash

Whitney Elizabeth Houston, born 9 August 1963 to the musically inclined family of Newark New Jersey is the daughter of Gospel star Cissy Houston and John Russell Houston Jr. They are also cousins of singer Dionne Warwick. As a young girl, Houston started performing professionally in her church's choir. She sang backing vocals for Chaka Khosn's single from 1978 Im Every Woman with her mother. After that, she began to sing backing vocals with Lou Rawls and Jermaine and her mother. Beginning in 1981, she started singing with New York's funk band Material.
